Cape Verde

Nestled 450km off the coast of West Africa, the archipelago of Cape Verde is an unspoiled, largely undiscovered beach paradise, boasting miles of idyllic coastlines, heavenly white sands and crystal-clear waters that remain blissfully warm all year round.

Commonly referred to as the 'European Caribbean' for its gorgeous tropical setting yet short flight from Europe (just 5½ hours from London), Cape Verde shares the same latitude as Barbados, making it a sun-soaked utopia at all times of the year.

With temperatures approaching 30 celsius during the day and in the low 20s at night, and seas that are always comfortably swimmable, Cape Verde boasts a continual and temperate holiday climate. This means there's no low season, leading to high occupancy rates and exceptionally strong yields scarcely available anywhere else in the world.

Culture

Since the islands were discovered by Portuguese explorers in the 15th century, Cape Verdeans have developed a distinct and endearing way of life which firmly embraces their rich cultural heritage. An intoxicating mix of European, African and Latin American influences, Cape Verde's vibrant and diverse culture is best represented by the locals' passion for music and exquisite cuisine.

Until recently, Cape Verde's unrivaled beauty was largely unknown to the outside world. Its long beaches of endless white sand, the historical character of its colonial towns and its variety of spectacular landscapes are now beginning to attract tourists and investors alike, looking to take advantage of the islands' alluring and, as yet, untapped beauty.

As Europe's closest tropical islands, Cape Verde offers a rich blend of holiday experiences. For those looking for adventure, a whole host of activities are on offer. The islands are one of the world's best spots for surfing, kite-surfing and windsurfing. Shipwrecks dating back as far as the 15th century and a wealth of exotic marine-life make the islands perfect for scuba diving enthusiasts. Sailing, fishing and hiking are also popular activities. For those who enjoy beautiful beaches, consistently fine weather and spectacular scenery, Cape Verde will certainly delight.
